Earthquake: 18 injured, damages over 6,000 homes in Yunnan, China
Kathmandu, 14 August, Eighteen people were injured after a moderate earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale jolted southwest China’s, Yunnan Province. The injured are being treated in a hospital and are said to be in a stable condition. The epicenter of the quake which struck yesterday was at a depth of seven kilometers. At the epicenter in the township of Sijie in Tonghai, hundreds of residents spent the night at a 16,000-square-meter shelter near the county government.
The quake damaged over 6,000 homes and affected more than 48,000 residents in Tonghai and Huaning counties and in the district of Jiangchuan. The provincial civil affairs department has allocated 200 tents, 600 beds and 1,000 quilts to quake-affected regions.
